SUBMISSION WINDOW

We are currently open for submissions. Our Spring 2026 submissions period closes on February 16 @ 11:59 p.m. ET.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We accept submissions of prose, poetry, and visual art by current Yale undergraduates. We accept a maximum packet of five written pieces and ten visual pieces from each submitter.

Please name each file as “TITLEEOFPIECE_GENREOFPIECE.” For written submissions, please specify the genre of the work as POETRY or PROSE. Omit your name from all pieces you submit (including in the file name).

We ask that prose submissions be kept under 12,000 words. We have no length limits for poetry submissions.

PAYMENT

We are a paid publication. Each selected contributor will receive a $30 honorarium.

Additionally, all contributors will be considered for the annual Francis Bergen Memorial Prize, celebrating the best piece published in the year (a $500 award).

SELECTION PROCESS

We are committed to a blind reading process. We strip all identifying information from your submission and read your work as it is. Your name is only known to us once your submission is accepted. We are committed to this process because we know Yale is a small community, and because we are here to evaluate submissions, not artists.

We have no set number of pieces we accept. However, because we publish our issues in print, we are constrained by space and aren’t able to take all the pieces we love. It is a competitive submissions process. For example, last issue, we had over 380 submissions and were able to publish 24, yielding a 6% acceptance rate.

We hope these numbers are inspiring and not daunting; you truly have nothing to lose (and everything to gain) by taking your shot.
